Learning, Acceptance, & Self-Love:
My problem is I love things with such ferocity they become part of me. There is no lukewarm love, pieces of my heart. It’s all ablaze. It’s all feral. That is not something I am ashamed of anymore.
When I look in the mirror, I see someone both humbled and proud.
Someone who kept the knives in their back and transformed them to bladed wings.
Someone who freely extends their hands they once needed.
Someone who learned the little things mean everything.
Someone who never accepted pity from anyone and got very comfortable being uncomfortable.
Someone whose imperfect smile was earned in the most unimaginable ways.
Someone who will never give up on those closest.
My problem has been continuing to expect those incapable of loving themselves properly,to love me in all the ways I know damn well I deserve.
It took me all my years on earth this far to look in the mirror and finally love all the things I see - so much so, they became all of me.
Personal Lessons and Advice:
I hate when people say "What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger." I disagree!
Some things that failed to completely kill me came so close that they are still damaging.
Some things didn’t make me better, they made me worse. And can’t that be OKAY too?
Can’t some things break you completely? This entire world wants you to believe that admitting defeat makes you weak! For God’s sake, bleed! And bleed openly.
There can be strength and growth in vulnerability.
Honesty is maturity And faith in truth...
It was all the things that broke me that helped build me.
One Piece of Relationship Advice:
In a healthy relationship, autonomy, independence, and individuality are celebrated, not controlled.
When someone loves you, they encourage your growth; they do not restrict, limit, stunt, or confine you or your life in any way.
